Alternative Keyboards
When workers use a keyboard, they are usually rotating their wrists away from the neutral position of thumb on top. Some people have wider shoulders and must bring their hands close together on a keyboard, making their upper arms uncomfortable. Keyboard designers have come up with varying ways to solve this problem with split keyboards, rotated keyboards, and tented keyboards.
Research has not shown whether these alternative keyboard arrangements do anything to improve wrist comfort or reduce the risk of repetitive motion injuries. The best advice is to try an alternative keyboard first before committing to it long-term.
