Employer Responsibilities - Involve Employees

When employees are involved in setting up their workspace and solving ergonomics problems, the result can be improved worker motivation and job satisfaction. Employees who are involved in their own workplace evaluations will have greater enthusiasm and "buy-in" when it comes to changes. After all, workers know the most about their own jobs and are often in the best position to identify problem areas. They can be the company's best resource for helpful suggestions to improve conditions and control hazards.

Employees can get involved by participating in a joint labor-management safety and health committee, a task force, or a work group. These committees and work groups can be company-wide or department-wide.
