Static Posture Problems
The human body was designed for movement, not immobility. When you have to sit at a desk or stand in one place and hold your body still in an upright position for long periods of time, it creates what is called "static load" on the spine. This load is the result of the constant battle against gravity and fatigue. Over time, static load can increase fatigue and the chance of MSDs of the spine. People who sit for long periods of time run a high risk of low back injury, second only to those who lift heavy weights.
Proper adjustments to your workstation, changes in working habits, and knowledge about healthy body posture can help reduce the amount of static load your body must endure.
