Workstation Adjustments - Chair Height
When you are adjusting your workstation chair height, keep in mind the following points:
- Your chair's seat should be at a distance from the floor so that your thighs are approximately horizontal or slightly inclined, with the buttocks higher than the knee.
- Your feet should either rest comfortably on the floor, or if you have shorter legs, your feet should rest on a footrest to keep your legs at a proper angle. However, footrests are definitely a second-best option.
- It is preferable to lower the work surface so that your chair can remain at a comfortable height.
- If your chair is at a comfortable height, then a footrest can give you another place to put your feet to vary their position from time to time. It is always healthier to have more than one option for positioning your feet so that you do not have to remain in the same position all day.
