Workstation Adjustments - Monitor
Traditional advice for monitor placement is that the computer monitor should be from 18-24 inches away from the user's eyes. However, new research has shown that the best distance is "as far away as possible while still being able to read the monitor clearly." The 18-24 inch measurement often results in the monitor being placed unnecessarily close to the user, creating eyestrain.
The height of the monitor should be set so that the top of the screen is at eye height. You should not have to look up to see your monitor. If your monitor has been placed on top of your computer's hard drive, it may be too high and create strain on your neck and eyes.
If you can, opt for a monitor that has a matte finish to reduce glare and has easy adjustments for screen brightness and contrast. Keep the monitor free of dust and smudges for best viewing.
