Workstation Adjustments - Telephone

Telephones are often an indispensable part of today's workplace. If your job requires you to spend a lot of time on the telephone as you use your computer, you should consider using a telephone headset. Using a telephone headset means that:

  • You will not have to prop the phone between your shoulder and neck when typing, eliminating a source of neck and shoulder strain.
  • You can be more productive and make fewer errors because you can keep both hands properly positioned over the keyboard.
  • The weight of holding up a heavier handset can be eliminated, reducing strain on hands, wrists, and shoulders.

If you will be using a traditional telephone handset, you should place the phone on your desk in a location such that you do not have to reach across your work surface to answer it.
