Injury & Accident Statistics

From 2003 to 2013, the U.S. Census of Fatal Occupation Injuries reported the sobering statistic that 1,183 oil and gas extraction workers lost their lives while on the job. During this same period, the overall fatality rate for workers in this industry was six times greater than the rate for all U.S. industries. The greatest percentage of fatalities in the oil and gas extraction industry are caused by transportation incidents, especially vehicle collisions. The leading cause of death for workers on-site is being struck by, caught in, or caught between equipment.
