Safety Data Sheets

An important document that must accompany every hazardous chemical is called a Safety Data Sheet, or SDS.

A SDS provides important safety, health, and environmental information on a chemical. Workers should locate and read the SDS for chemicals with which they might come into contact.

The SDS contains information such as substance identification, composition, hazards, first aid, handling and storage, exposure, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

You should know how to read and understand a SDS, then locate and read the ones that relate to potential chemical hazards that you face at your worksite.
