OSHA Overview
Companies with potential workplace hazards implement programs to protect workers, the community, and the environment from such hazards. These programs are typically called Safety, Health, & Environment (SHE, or sometimes EHS or HSE).
In the United States, a government agency called the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was created to "assure safe and healthful working conditions". OSHA promotes and enforces safety and health standards for the workplace.
It can also conduct inspections and investigations and propose penalties for noncompliance with standards. It also provides occupational safety and health research, information, education, and training.
