Safe Work Practices & Exposure Limits

Your workplace will provide you with safe work practices and exposure limits. Examples of work practices and limits include:

  • Personal hygiene and its impact on health and safety
  • Housekeeping and maintenance procedures
  • Shift work and job rotation
  • Limits on exposure to conditions such as noise, radiation, heat or cold, and so on.

Your employer will inform you of all work practices and limits that affect your job.

Another administrative control program is permitting systems. These are procedures for ensuring worker safety in tasks such as hot work (such as welding), confined space entry, Lockout Tagout (controlling hazardous energy when doing maintenance or repair on energized equipment).
