Airway First Aid
If a victim appears to have trouble breathing or is not breathing at all, there are a few methods to consider.
If the patient is unconscious, alert EMS, and roll the patient onto their back, keeping the head, neck, and back in a straight line. Attempt to open the airway by tilting the head and chin up away from the body. After positioning the victim, check breathing for no more than 10 seconds. Occasional gasps should not be considered breathing.
If the victim is not breathing, perform CPR or use an AED if it is available.
