OSHA Requirements

The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 was passed to prevent workers from being killed or seriously harmed at work. Section 5 (a)(1) of the act requires that all employers provide a workplace "free from recognized hazards that are causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm" to their employees.

However, accidents will happen, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that workplaces are ready. Section 1910 of 29 CFR covers the OSHA-defined first aid requirements of general industries, which we will discuss in more depth further in the course. We will also cover the specifics of Section 1926 of 29 CFR, which covers first aid in the construction industry.
