Hypothermia

If a person falls into cold-temperature waters or through ice, he or she runs the risk of exposure-related hazards such as hypothermia. Hypothermia is a condition that causes the body's core temperature to drop to dangerously low levels. Exposure-related hazards can cause serious health issues, permanent damage to the body, and even death.

Some jobs and tasks require workers to ride on or staff various maritime vehicles, including barges, tugboats, supply boats, motor boats, and so on; or, you might be required to work on floating work platforms, oil platforms, cranes, and so on.

These present their own set of challenges and hazards, including accidents, collisions, falls from heights, drowning, rotating equipment, potential exposure to hazardous substances, and so on.
