Other Hazards
Workers wading through waters or walking near the waterline can come into contact with hidden obstacles, debris, and vegetation. These can cause cuts, scrapes, bruises, sprains, and other injuries.
Water and electricity are each hazardous on their own, but become even more so when combined. Exercise caution if you are working near any type of energized power source while in contact with or near water.
Other injuries and conditions, such as immersion foot, rashes, and skin dryness or irritation, can result due to working in water. Immersion foot (also known as trench foot), occurs when feet stay wet for long periods of time. Workers standing in water during cleanup operations can potentially experience this painful condition.
