General Requirements

OSHA has created safety regulations for various aspects of the workplace. With regards to walking working surfaces, OSHA advises that all places of employment, including passageways, storerooms, and service rooms be kept clean and orderly. Workplace aisles and passageways should be kept clear and in good repair with no obstructions that could create a hazard. A safe clearance in aisles and doorways should be present whenever mechanical handling equipment, such as a forklift, is used.
