Trips

Trips result from a loss of footing. Loss of footing happens when the sole of the foot does not make full or proper contact with the walking surface. Trips happen when your foot collides with an object, causing you to lose balance and potentially fall. Common causes of tripping include the following:

  • Obstructed view
  • Poor lighting
  • Clutter
  • Wrinkled carpeting
  • Uncovered cables and cords crossing the pathway
  • Bottom drawers not being closed
  • Uneven walking surfaces
