IMDG Code
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) publishes the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code to aid compliance with the international legal requirements of the 1960 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea. It is helpful to note that "dangerous goods" means the same thing as "hazardous substances" described in OSHA. The IMDG Code list of dangerous goods can aid in understanding flammable, explosive, or other goods that may pose hazards during the use and transport of all chemicals by ship. Maritime employers and employees who may come into contact with such dangerous goods should be aware of the IMDG Code. You can learn more at www.imo.org.
