Ensuring Safety in the Work Environment
A hazard assessment of work activities, as described in 29 CFR 1915.152, must be conducted to determine work environment hazards that may require PPE. In addition, hazard communication training must be provided to the workers and must cover all hazardous materials used in work procedures, as well as how to protect themselves from exposure to those hazards. This includes hazardous materials introduced by other employers at the worksite to which workers may be exposed. Fulfilling the hazard assessment requirement is the responsibility of the employer who has control over the workers performing the work.
