Eye Protection

Employers must ensure that employees are provided with and use eye protection that is appropriate to the hot work exposures. These exposures can include light radiation, flying particles, molten metals, and chemical gases or vapors. If necessary, when providing this eye protection, the employer must take into account the needs of any employee who wears prescription lenses. If filtered lenses are required for the work being performed, it is the responsibility of the employer to provide PPE with filter lenses with a shade number that provides protection from dangerous light radiation.
