Subpart D - Section 1915.57
Section 1915.57 of Subpart D is a short final section about activities that involve the use of and exposure to sources of ionizing radiation. Such sources may be encountered on both conventionally powered and nuclear powered vessels.
In both cases, the rules for protection against occupational radiation exposure, as defined by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Standards for Protection Against Radiation (10 CFR Part 20), apply. All work of this type must be performed by a competent person who is specially trained.
