Conveyors
Conveyors, which are work surfaces with manual or powered roller systems, can help transport large sheets of metal or heavy objects between work stations and move material around corners. Conveyors can help reduce the shoulder and back fatigue that workers experience, and the powered models minimize the pushing and pulling forces. Conveyors can be flexible to extend into trucks, or they can be pushed together to minimize blocking forklift traffic aisles.
Objects on a manual conveyor are easier to push or slide when they are at or slightly below waist height. Keep in mind that manual conveyors require regular maintenance to minimize pushing and pulling forces.
When using conveyors, make sure that employees are aware of pinch hazards.
