DLSO Responsibilities
If necessary, especially in large health care facilities, management or the LSO should appoint a DLSO to fulfill the LSO's responsibilities when the LSO is unavailable. For facilities with multiple divisions or locations, a system of DLSOs may be necessary. The DLSO can be a laser user, laser operator, or other trained personnel.
In smaller, non-hospital health care facilities, such as dental and veterinary offices, a DLSO and LSSC may not be needed as long as the LSO is readily available on a day-to-day basis.
