Non-Beam Hazards
There are a variety of injuries that can be caused by non-beam laser hazards. Some of these hazards include:
- Electrical hazards
- Fire and explosion hazards
- Laser-generated airborne contaminants
- Compressed gases
- Laser dyes and solvents
- Biological agents
Due to the diversity of these potential hazards, it is the LSO's responsibility to conduct evaluations and implement the appropriate controls, some of which we will cover in the next section. Because these hazard types are so varied, the LSO may employ safety or industrial hygiene personnel to conduct non-beam hazard evaluations.
