Difference Between Restricted & Confined Space

In the OHS Regulation for Health Care and Residential Facilities (O.Reg. 67/93), a restricted space is defined as a "space from which the egress of a worker is restricted, limited or impeded because of the construction, design, location or other physical characteristics of the space." Restricted spaces are, by this definition, similar to confined spaces, but atmospheric hazards are not present in a restricted space. Additionally, a space that is designed for continuous human occupancy may be considered restricted based on the ease of entering and exiting.
