Lift trucks are used for a variety of tasks, usually involving the movement of materials, in many industries. Tasks can include any of the following:
- Transporting heavy materials
- Lifting materials above standard reach
- Moving large quantities of materials
- Providing a work platform for personnel, provided adequate safety measures are taken
Regulations for lift trucks in Canada are largely uniform. Specific regulations and safety requirements for lift trucks by province and territory will be addressed later in this course.
