Risk Control

When a risk is identified, site management must implement a control system immediately in order to avoid injury. The first step in control is letting workers know that a hazard exists. Clause 25(2)(d) of the OHSA states that employers must inform workers of the hazards present at a work site. This can be achieved by presenting each worker with a copy of the written hazard report as discussed in Risk Identification, but it is important to note that this measure is not enough on its own. Site managers must be in constant contact with workers in order to let them know about new risks that develop as the work site changes and grows.

If a risk involves faulty equipment, that equipment should be removed from service until adequate repair or replacement occurs.
