Supervisor - Inspection
Clause 25(2)(c) of the OHSA requires that a competent person must be appointed as a supervisor, meaning that a supervisor must be able to identify unsafe acts and conditions and implement corrective measures. On a work site, the supervisor is required to perform operational pre-checks on equipment before approving it for use. If any damage or defects are found, the supervisor must immediately report those findings to the employer. The supervisor has the authority to take immediate corrective actions regarding equipment use and employee safety. Therefore, the supervisor has the right and responsibility to suspend use of any piece of equipment on the grounds of worker safety.
