Employees Responsibilities
According to the OHS legislation set forth in the Canada Labour Code, employees have the following three basic rights:
- The right to refuse unsafe work
- The right to participate in the workplace health and safety activities through the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) or as a worker health and safety representative
- The right to know, or to be informed about, actual and potential dangers in the workplace
Employee responsibilities include the following:
- Work in compliance with OHS acts and regulations
- Use PPE and clothing as directed by the employer
- Report workplace hazards and dangers
- Work in a manner as required by the employer and use the prescribed safety equipment
Authorized individuals are responsible for implementing their company's hazardous energy control program in compliance with all protocols, procedures, and training provided by their employer.
