Additional Training - New Tasks
Under 30 CFR 48.27, MSHA requires relevant training for miners who have been assigned to a task in which they have had no previous experience. This training program must include the following:
- Health and safety aspects and safe operating procedures related to the assigned task, equipment, and machinery
- Supervised practice of the assigned task at a time where production is not a primary objective
- Direct and immediate supervision during production
- Safe operation procedures applicable to new or modified machines or equipment at the mine
- All other courses that may be required by the district manager at the local MSHA office based on circumstances and conditions at the mine
This training must be given by a qualified trainer or a supervisor or other person who is experienced in the assigned tasks.
