Entering & Leaving the Mine
Mines use a check-in and check-out system to keep a current record of all mine personnel, contractors, and visitors. This information is essential in the event of an emergency. Mine operators are required to keep this record readily accessible in a safe place so it can be referenced during an emergency.
The check-in and check-out system provides vital information to mine rescue teams in the event of an emergency. The team can use the data to identify and locate any miner who fails to return and check-out during an emergency event. Miners must receive site-specific training on the check-in and check-out policy at their mine.
