Gas Sampling
Gas testing and sampling provides critical information to miners and rescue teams. Machine-mounted methane monitors are required by 30 CFR 27 to alert coal miners of the presence of potentially dangerous concentrations of methane. The monitors must be permanently mounted on a mining machine to provide continuous readings of methane levels near a working face. During coal cutting, methane levels can rise and fall rapidly, so miners must be ready to respond rapidly to these changing conditions.
