Hazard Recognition & Avoidance

Significant hazards exist at surface mine sites. Although substantial progress has been made in the past century to reduce the amount of and exposure to these hazards for miners, there is still room for further risk reduction.

In order to moderate hazards, miners and other individuals who work on mine sites must acquire a better understanding of the risks and hazards, as well as the associated preventative procedures and behaviors. Learning to accurately identify hazards and avoid them in the workplace are crucial skills for miners to have.
