Line of Authority
It is important for miners to know to whom they must report incidents and hazardous conditions within their mine company. A supervisor is typically number one within the line of authority as an employee of the mine operator. A supervisor is in charge of all aspects of a mine site and initiates several actions, including emergency response. Supervisors have the responsibility to take appropriate action to address safety and health issues and concerns. They must also ensure that miners are able to identify designated safety personnel and understand the procedures for reporting hazards.
