Mine-specific Work Environment
Each mine site has its own rules regarding safety and regulations. The mine operator is responsible for providing site-specific training for all miners to ensure their safety. Nevertheless, there are still some basic rules that apply within most mining operations, and they are as follows:
- Smoking is restricted within designated areas.
- Drugs are prohibited.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required where applicable.
- Attendance at safety meetings is mandatory.
- Miners must observe all posted rules and regulations, such as speed limits and restricted areas.
- Miners must use communication devices, such as startup horns, signals, and radios, appropriately.
- Miners must be familiar with all emergency information, such as emergency evacuation assembly areas and procedures, locations of first aid kits, and emergency contact information.
