Machinery Maintenance
Ensuring that equipment is maintained appropriately on mine sites is a crucial task.
The following are some general safety practices to observe when maintaining surface powered haulage equipment:
- Do not manually lubricate machinery or equipment while it is in motion.
- Do not use machinery, equipment, and tools outside the capacity intended by the manufacturer.
- Guard moving machine parts to protect others from contacting gears, sprockets, chains, and other similar moving parts that can cause injury.
Guards are not required where the exposed moving parts are at least seven feet away from walking or working surfaces.
