Miners' Rights - Overview
The U.S. Congress encourages miners to take active, responsible roles in matters of mine safety and health. As such, it is important for miners to know and understand their legal rights, which are as follows:
- Right to protection against discrimination
- Right to request an inspection
- Right to be represented or participate in inspections
- Right to pay during a withdrawal order
- Right to be informed of and participate in enforcement proceedings
- Right to receive health and safety training
- Right to health protection
- Rights relating to new and revised standards or regulations
- Right to information
