Applicability
Title 30 CFR §46.8 requires 8 hours of annual refresher training no later than 12 months after the surface miner begins work at the mine and no later than 12 months after the previous annual refresher training was completed. The training must cover changes at the mine that could adversely affect the miner's health or safety.
This course satisfies 2 hours of the 8 hours required. Your supervisor should specify the additional 6 hours of training you should receive. A complete selection of additional MSHA surface mining courses can be found in the "Course List" section of our website, as well as OSHA courses.
On-site surface mine employees must receive this training. Training must also be available to visitors who want it.
