Cranes
Cranes are used for heavy lifting. Shifting loads can cause accidents. If a load could shift, swing, or otherwise move unpredictably, attach tag lines so that ground crews can control the load's rotation and sway from a safe distance.
Avoid steadying an unpredictable crane load with your body. Communicate with the crane operator to manage misalignment rather than putting yourself in a dangerous situation.
If a crane is equipped with outriggers, use them every time. Inspect outriggers periodically for damage, corrosion, hydraulic leaks, or anything else that could cause structural failure.
