Excavators

Excavators are most often used to load haulage trucks. Some are built for reach, while mass excavators are built for power to deliver the largest load per pass.

One of the biggest dangers in excavators is lack of visibility. It is easy to approach an excavator without being observed by the operator. If you must approach an excavator, make sure to communicate your intentions with the operator using radios or some other reliable method. This will help avoid potentially fatal accidents, such as being hit by a swinging boom.

Another hazard is toppling over. Operators must use caution on sloping or unsteady terrain. Take the time to reposition your excavator or to bring in a different machine rather than risk an accident.
