A miner is described as any person (operators and supervisors included) who works at a mine and is engaged in mining operations. This definition also covers the following people:
- Independent contractors and employees engaged in mining operations
- Construction workers exposed to hazards of mining operations
- Flash point
- Highwall
- Confined spaces
- Trailway
- Self-rescue equipment
- Firewarning
- Lock out/tag out
- Safety best practices
- Machine guarding
These terms and the topics covered in this course should all be familiar. The requirement to undergo annual refresher training ensures that important safety practices are reviewed on a regular basis. Even one year without training can be enough to forget important concepts.
