Aerial Lifts ANSI Standards
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is an organization that uses industry experts to set consensus standards on various topics. ANSI has issued ANSI/SAIA A92, Elevating and Vehicle Lift Device Packages, for the use by manufacturers, dealers, owners, users, and operators of aerial lifts. The standard is divided into multiple sections. The two sections that apply to aerial boom lifts include:
The following OSHA regulations are applicable to aerial boom lifts:
- A92.2 - Vehicle-mounted elevating and rotating aerial devices
- A92.5 - Boom-supported elevating work platforms
ANSI promotes safety by developing recommendations in the form of standards and guidelines. ANSI standards include best practices; however, complying with the standards is voluntary.
