Aerial Lifts Fall-Protection
Falls are the second most common cause of death from working on aerial boom lifts. Most falls from aerial boom lifts occur due to operator error or improper use of the equipment. Common reasons for falls include:
- Worker is not wearing the required personal protective equipment or is not properly attached to the anchorage point
- Worker is ejected or catapulted from a boom lift when it is struck by another vehicle or object, or when the lift moves unexpectedly
- Worker climbs on guardrails or out of the bucket or platform
- Worker overreaches beyond the edge of the platform
- Platform component fails due to improper maintenance or inspection
