Aerial Lift Daily Inspections

All components that directly impact the safe operation of the aerial boom lift and that can change in status from day to day with use must be visually inspected on a daily basis before use. The following items must be regularly inspected and observed before and during operation for possible defects:

  • Tires and wheels
  • All fluids, including fuel, engine oil, coolants for proper level, and battery fluid, as well as hydraulic hoses
  • All quick disconnect hoses
  • Structural components
  • Ladders or steps
  • Beacon and warning lights
  • Operating and emergency controls
  • Access gate and guardrail system
  • Brakes, horn, outriggers, and stabilizers
  • Personal protective devices
  • Placards, warnings, control markings, decals, and operator's manual
  • Other items specified by the manufacturer
