Aerial Lifts Load Limits
Aerial boom lifts are typically not designed to hold large, heavy loads that extend beyond the edges of the platform. Raising the platform while carrying a heavy load can make the lift top-heavy, creating a tipping hazard.
You should know the manufacturer's maximum intended load for your aerial boom lift. You should check the specification label on the equipment for this information or consult the operator's manual.
An aerial boom lift must be capable of supporting the weight of its platform and at least four times the maximum intended load without failure. Also, the stall load on the hoist mechanism must not exceed three times the rated load.
