Aerial Lift Mechanical Failure

Unless there are immediate hazardous or emergency conditions present, aerial boom lift workers should never attempt to climb down from the platform or onto the lifting mechanism in the event of mechanical failure. Ground controls can be operated by another certified operator in the area, provided that permission is given by the stranded operator. Permission is implied if the operator is unresponsive.

If mechanical failure occurs during operation of the aerial boom lift and the operator is stranded in a raised lift, take immediate action to notify emergency rescue personnel.
