Aerial Lifts Overextension
Aerial boom lifts are designed to raise workers many feet in the air. Some are equipped with platforms that are extendable, making the work area larger.
You should never extend the aerial boom lift beyond its recommended maximum height or extend the platform sideways beyond the balance provided by the counterweight of the base. Check the owner's manual for the manufacturer's maximum extension height and distance.
Before operating a platform extension, check to make sure that outriggers are deployed to increase stability.
NEVER override the safety mechanisms by disconnection or another action that will keep the aerial boom lift from operating within safety limits.
