Aerial Lift Responsibilities - Operators
The operator has direct control of the operation of the aerial boom lift; therefore, conformance with good safety practices is an obligation of the operator.
Workers and operators should be familiar with the manufacturer's guidelines for proper usage of the aerial boom lift and be trained in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe working conditions. Operators are responsible for adhering to the operator's manual of the equipment, complying with all provisions of the company or department safety program, and attending all required training sessions.
Workers and operators are also responsible for any worksite-specific procedures, such as barricading the worksite and completing a worksite inspection. They should notify their supervisor when they become aware of safety problems.
