Aerial Lift Responsibilities - Supervisors
Supervisors should make sure that any employees who will be working on or around aerial boom lifts receive proper training in safety and operating instructions. If there are hazards associated with the operation of the aerial boom lift on a new job site for which an employee has not been trained, the supervisor should make sure that the worker receives additional training.
The supervisor should be familiar with the safety program and ensure that employees comply with all provisions of the program. Supervisors should also ensure that employees are provided with and trained on the use of any appropriate personal protective equipment.
Supervisors should make sure that aerial boom lifts in use are inspected by a competent person in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions at the beginning of each work shift. Supervisors are also responsible for investigating any injuries related to aerial boom lift use as well as any damage to the equipment.
Supervisors are responsible for taking appropriate action, including disciplinary action, when unsafe conditions or actions are observed.
