Atmosphere-Supplying Respirator #3: Combination Respirators
Combination respirators have an "auxiliary self-contained air supply," which is for use if the primary respiratory system fails. They are often used to enter confined spaces and in atmospheres that are (or could be) immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH).
Since this type of respirator only needs to supply enough air to escape a dangerous area, the self-contained portion is typically small.
