Creating a Mold Remediation Plan

When you are remediating a building, it is important to create a remediation plan. The most important thing to consider when making this plan is protecting the safety and health of occupants as well as workers. A good remediation plan includes the following:

• Determining whether containment will be required
• Determining what level of PPE will be required
• Determining how to prevent a recurrence by assessing and addressing how to fix the water or moisture problem
• Determining how to remove any moldy building materials in a way that prevents the mold from spreading

There should always be an element of flexibility in a remediation plan to allow for changing circumstances, such as a greater contamination being discovered.
